Updated:1.11 2024 From:National Immigration Administration

National Immigration Administration officially implemented five measures to facilitate foreigners' entry into China from January 11, further removing barriers for foreigners to come to China for business, study, and tourism, and better serving and ensuring high-level opening up and promoting high-quality development.

First, the conditions for foreigners to apply for port visas in China will be relaxed. For foreigners who urgently need to come to China for non-diplomatic and official activities such as business cooperation, visit and exchange, investment and entrepreneurship, visiting relatives and handling personal affairs, if they cannot complete the visa application abroad in time, they can apply for port visas to the port visa authority with relevant supporting documents such as invitations.

Second, foreigners can directly transit at the hub airports such as Beijing Capital Airport without going through inspection procedures.Foreigners can directly transit at the 9 international airports in Beijing Capital, Beijing Daxing, Shanghai Pudong, Hangzhou Xiaoshan, Xiamen Gaoqi, Guangzhou Baiyun, Shenzhen Bao'an, Chengdu Tianfu and Xi'an Xianyang without going through immigration procedures. For the inbound and outbound passengers who hold international connecting tickets within 24 hours and transit to a third country or region via any of the above airports, they can directly transit without going through immigration procedures and visa-free.

Third, foreigners in China can apply for visa extension, renewal and replacement nearby. Foreigners who come to China for short-term business cooperation, visit and exchange, investment and entrepreneurship, visiting relatives, sightseeing and handling private affairs and other non-diplomatic and official activities, with legitimate and reasonable reasons to continue to stay in China, can apply for visa extension, renewal and replacement nearby to the local exit-entry administration of the public security organs in the place where they stay.

Fourth, foreign nationals in China who need to enter and exit multiple times can apply for a re-entry visa. Foreigners in China who for legitimate and reasonable reasons, need to enter and exit multiple times can apply for a re-entry visa by presenting invitation letters and other relevant supporting documents to the exit-entry administration of the public security organs.

Fifth, the application materials for visa documents for foreign nationals in China are simplified. When foreign nationals apply for visa documents, if relevant information such as their accommodation registration records and enterprise business licenses can be queried through information sharing, they are exempt from inspection of related paper documents. For foreign nationals in China applying for short-term family reunion visas, a statement of the relationship by the inviting person can replace proof of the family relationship. Officials from the National Immigration Administration introduced that with the continuous recovery and improvement of China's economic development and the continuous expansion of the level of openness to the outside world, both Chinese and foreign enterprises and personnel have raised many new demands for deepening immigration management services. The National Immigration Administration will proactively coordinate with relevant competent authorities, continue to focus on the key issues and difficulties in the entry and stay of foreigners in China for business, study, and tourism, continuously deepen reforms in immigration management services, and innovate policies and systems. It will accelerate the promotion of institutionalized openness, actively participate in creating a first-class business environment, and proactively provide services to promote the construction of a new development pattern.
